NEWS
The Northwest Indiana Times, and the Post Tribune are the
top newspapers for info about the Gary School System.
If you are not receiving a paper, I would recommend one of
these two. The number for the PT is (800) 876-8974, and the
number for the NWIT is (800) 589-3331.
NORTHWEST INDIANA

The Times challenge is to serve such a diverse and balkanized
community. It does so by producing nine daily geographically
zoned editions, providing both a regional news report and
the depth and flavor of a hometown newspaper.

FORMER MAYOR TAKES MURDER CASE
GARY, A few short months ago, Scott King boasted that as mayor, his police department helped win convictions for all 17 Gary murder trials in 2005.
As citizen King, he hopes to reverse that trend.
King has been retained to represent Isaiah Eskew, one of two brothers charged with murder in the shooting death of Tywon Newsome, 21, in the Wirt High School parking lot during graduation June 6.
I'm not doing very much criminal work; this case was an exception, King said Tuesday from the Miller law office he rents from his former partner, James Meyer.
I spent time looking at the case and I feel I am in a circumstance to help some good young men, King said.

He left Sunday for Purdue University in West Lafayette to participate in the Cornell A. Bell Business Opportunity Program in the School of Management. Jackson said the program will introduce him to the curriculum and professors including Bell as he pursues a degree in accounting.
I will also get an early introduction to college life and meet with the counselors and other administrators on campus, he said. And the program will allow me to earn 12 college credits toward my degree.
