Classmates,
Education challenges affect every citizen, family, and business in the District! The 1986 City Wide Reunion Committee invites you to take part in supporting education by participating in our 1st annual “Walk for Education” fund-raising event. By walking in the event, you directly impact the students and support existing education programs offered by the Gary Community School Corporation.
The Walk for Education campaign is one of many events for our 25 year, Class Reunion. It is designed to raise money for future events that we will sponsor throughout the year as well as give back to the community. We are donating 30% of the profit to each of the High Schools in Gary.

Event: Walk-a-Thon “Walk for Education”
Date: Saturday, May 26, 2007
Walk Registration Time: 9:00 am – 9:30 am
Minimum sponsor: $35.00 – adults 18 years old and over
$10.00 – children 17-12 years old
$5.00 – children 6-11 years old

Walk-a-Thon 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Warm down 11:00 am – 11:15 am

Left on to Grand Blvd
Right on to Forrest Ave
Left on to Montgomery Ave
Curve right on Oak Ave
Straight on to Grand Blvd
Right into WHS Auditorium Parking Lot
Total Miles is 2.2 miles

Here is how it will work:
There will be 5 teams. Each team is required to have 10 walkers. Each walker is required to secure $100.00. It is as simple as that.
If you want to be on a team but do not want to bother with asking 10 people for $10.00 – You may donate $100.00 yourself. You do not need to be present to be a part of a team.
If you do not want to be on a team but want to participate in the walk – The registration fee is $35.00. You can donate this yourself or collect it from sponsors. You do not need to be present to register to walk.
If you do not want to participate in the walk or if you will not be in the area – please donate a minimum of $10.00 to one of the teams listed below.

This is really a no frills event. We are trying to keep expenses at an all time low. Right now, they are approximately $60.00 per school. That being said – we will not be purchasing any special T-shirts. Your team is welcome to purchase team shirts at their own expense.
